- 500 g stewing beef, cubed
- 125 ml pearl barley
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 carrots, sliced
- 2 potatoes, cubed
- 2 celery stalks, diced
- 1 can diced tomatoes(796 ml)
- 2 L beef broth
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- 1 Salt, pepper, and dried thyme
Instructions

Brown the beef cubes in oil in a large pot.

Add the onion and cook for 2 minutes.

Pour in the broth and tomatoes. Bring to a boil.

Add the barley, reduce heat, and simmer for 1 hour.

Add the carrots, celery, and potatoes. Cook for another 30 minutes.
