Ingredients

  • 500 g stewing beef, cubed
  • 125 ml pearl barley
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 carrots, sliced
  • 2 potatoes, cubed
  • 2 celery stalks, diced
  • 1 can diced tomatoes(796 ml)
  • 2 L beef broth
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 Salt, pepper, and dried thyme

Instructions

    Brown the beef cubes in oil in a large pot.

    Add the onion and cook for 2 minutes.

    Pour in the broth and tomatoes. Bring to a boil.

    Add the barley, reduce heat, and simmer for 1 hour.

    Add the carrots, celery, and potatoes. Cook for another 30 minutes.

    Season with salt, pepper, and thyme. Serve hot.
