Traditional Quebec recipe: Boulettes de brochet. A classic wild game dish from the Quebec hunting tradition.

Ingredients

  • 500 g ground pike meat
  • 80 ml breadcrumbs
  • 1 beaten egg
  • 2 chopped green onions
  • 1 tbsp fresh dill
  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 Salt and pepper
  • 1 Oil for frying
  • 1 Tartar sauce for serving

Instructions

    Mix the ground pike, breadcrumbs, egg, green onions, dill, and mustard.

    Form meatballs 3 cm in diameter.

    Fry in oil at 350°F (175°C) for 4-5 minutes.

    Or bake in the oven at 400°F on an oiled baking sheet for 15 minutes.

    Serve with tartar sauce and lemon wedges.
