Ingredients

  • 1 cup Water
  • 1 cup All-purpose flour
  • 2 tbsp Granulated sugar
  • 0.5 tsp Salt
  • 2 tbsp Unsalted butter
  • 2 Large eggs
  • 4 cups Vegetable oil (for frying)
  • 0.25 cup Granulated sugar (for coating)
  • 1 tsp Ground cinnamon
  • 4 oz Dark chocolate (for sauce)
  • 0.5 cup Heavy cream (for sauce)

Instructions

  1. 1

In a pot, combine water, 2 tbsp sugar, salt, and butter. Bring to a boil, then remove from heat.

  2. 2

Add flour all at once and stir vigorously until a ball of dough forms. Return to low heat for 1-2 minutes, stirring constantly.

  3. 3

Transfer dough to a bowl. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition until fully incorporated.

  4. 4

Heat vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C). Pipe dough through a star-tipped pastry bag into hot oil, cutting churros to desired length.

  5. 5

Fry churros until golden brown and crispy, about 2-3 minutes per side. Remove and drain on paper towels.

  6. 6

Combine 1/4 cup sugar and cinnamon for coating. Toss warm churros in the mixture. For sauce, heat cream, pour over chocolate, and stir until smooth.

Chef's Tips

  • Use a sturdy pastry bag and a large star tip for best churro shape.
  • Maintain oil temperature to ensure even cooking and prevent sogginess.
  • Serve churros immediately after frying and coating for optimal crispness.
