Ingredients

  • 1 kg pork shoulder with fat, cut into pieces
  • 250 ml water
  • 60 ml maple syrup
  • 1 chopped onion
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 1/2 tsp allspice
  • 1 Salt and pepper

Instructions

    Place the pork, water, onion, garlic, bay leaf, and spices in a Dutch oven.

    Bake in the oven at 150°C (300°F) for 3 to 4 hours, until the meat falls apart.

    Remove the bay leaf. Shred the meat with a fork in the cooking fat.

    Stir in the maple syrup and mix well.

    Season with salt and pepper.

    Divide into jars and refrigerate. Serve on toasted bread.
