- 4 whole peeled carrots
- 4 whole peeled potatoes
- 1 turnip, peeled and quartered
- 1 small green cabbage, quartered
- 2 whole onions
- 2 celery stalks
- 1 bay leaf
- 1 Salt, pepper, and parsley

Place the meat in a large pot and cover with cold water.

Bring to a boil and skim. Add the bay leaf, salt, and pepper.
