Traditional Quebec recipe: Slow Cooker Pulled Venison. A classic wild game dish from the Quebec hunting tradition.

Ingredients

  • 1 1.5 kg venison roast(shoulder)
  • 1 bottle of BBQ sauce(375 ml)
  • 250 ml beef broth
  • 80 ml apple cider vinegar
  • 3 tbsp brown sugar
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1 Hamburger buns for serving

Instructions

    Place the onion at the bottom of the slow cooker.

    Place the venison roast on top.

    Mix the BBQ sauce, broth, vinegar, brown sugar, garlic, and spices.

    Pour over the meat.

    Cook on LOW for 8-10 hours until the meat falls apart.

    Shred the meat with two forks directly in the sauce.

    Serve in hamburger buns with coleslaw.
