Ingredients

  • 750 ml flour
  • 175 ml sugar
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 0.5 tsp baking soda
  • 0.5 tsp nutmeg
  • 0.25 tsp salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 125 ml sour milk(or buttermilk)
  • 60 ml melted butter
  • 1 Oil for frying
  • 1 Icing sugar or maple syrup for coating

Instructions

    Combine flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, nutmeg, and salt.

    Whisk eggs with milk and melted butter. Incorporate into the dry ingredients.

    Knead lightly and roll out to 1 cm thickness. Cut out with a doughnut cutter.

    Heat oil to 175°C (350°F).

    Fry doughnuts for 1-2 minutes per side until golden brown.

    Drain and roll in icing sugar or dip in warm maple syrup.
