  • 250 ml cold lard or vegetable shortening
  • 80 ml ice water
  • 1 tbsp white vinegar
  • 1 beaten egg

    Cut in the lard with two knives until the mixture resembles small peas.

    Whisk together the ice water, vinegar, and egg.

    Pour over the flour mixture and mix quickly with a fork.

    Form into 2 balls, wrap in plastic film, and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.

    Roll out on a floured surface. Yields 2 crusts (top and bottom).
