Ingredients

  • 1 Cake: 250 mL flour, 125 mL sugar, 2 tsp baking powder

  • 125 mL milk

  • 1 Sauce: 250 mL maple syrup, 250 mL 35% cream, 125 mL brown sugar

    Preheat oven to 175°C (350°F).

    Sauce: Heat maple syrup, cream, and brown sugar. Bring to a boil for 2 minutes. Pour into an 8x8 inch pan.

    Cake: Cream together butter and sugar. Add egg and vanilla.

    Mix flour and baking powder. Incorporate by alternating with milk.

    Spoon batter over the hot sauce (do not mix).

    Bake for 35-40 minutes. The cake will rise, and the sauce will remain underneath. Serve warm.
